About the Book
Written by Heather Paterno, Esq. and illustrated by P.D. Murray, the Watchful Owl is a story filled with heartbreak and healing about a little fox that becomes an orphan and a wise owl that watches over him. This story shows the journey that children may experience as they are forced to be separated from their parents, as well as the impact that caring and consistent individuals can have on a foster child’s life.

About the Author
Heather Paterno is an attorney who focuses on families and children’s issues, a board member of Dauphin County CASA, former conference officer and court-appointed guardian ad litem where she has advocated for children’s legal and best interests in countless proceedings. Some more of her books include H is For Hershey, and PJ Bird.
About the Illustrator/Editor
Paul Murray is a Harrisburg area mixed-media artist who has generously donated his talents to Dauphin County CASA in supporting local children in the foster care system. You can find more of his work at pdmurray.art.
