By the end of 2020, in our first full year supplying trained volunteers, Dauphin County CASA reached 31 kids. We are proud to be on the scene and making a difference for children in our community who have experienced abuse and neglect. We now want to double our outreach in 2021, serving at least 62 children at-risk! The need is both great and enduring. Because at any given month, as many as 400 children could be involved with child protective services in our county. To rise up, funding for additional staff must be garnered. As such, we call upon the collective superpower of our community through our Everyday Hero Challenge fundraiser!
From June 1st to June 30th, we are challenging you, our hero, to support Dauphin County CASA by logging 62 miles of exercise! You set the schedule, choosing your location(s) and activity(s) for the month. Go ahead and consider walking; running; swimming; biking; rollerblading...and maybe even “flying!” Champions of Dauphin County CASA, both near and far, can register for this community event through Pretzel City Sports. On behalf of this crusade, our heroes can ask their fans to donate to Dauphin County CASA in honor of their commitment to complete 62 miles. Along the way, please take photos of yourself in costume or with your provided shirt and bib# to encourage hero participation! Dauphin County CASA will display these photos, comments, and other feedback on social media feeds. Just use the hashtag #imaDCCASAhero.
Our Everyday Hero Challenge is a wonderful opportunity to thank Dauphin County CASA volunteers and all those in our community who have risked their wellbeing to help one another throughout this pandemic. Our volunteers are indeed superheroes to vulnerable children, serving bravely throughout the coronavirus crisis. We align our power with the everyday heroes of this pandemic – the nurses; teachers; counselors; caseworkers; pharmacists; coaches; farmers; postal service; plumbers; electricians; sanitation; clergy; and all others who risked their health at work to address our public needs.
If your organization shares our commitment to help foster child in Dauphin, join the cause! Sponsor us in support of our everyday heroes who make this world a safer place. Suit up- we need your mighty forces to help children who are in foster care in Dauphin County!
